My Web Server

I've found that the best way to stay "with it" on web serving is to build a new server every so often, so you can use what you've learned by screwing up the old one. And, it lets you use all that fun new stuff in your scrap heap...

Sanford Mark I

The original sanford! Online from day one (Nov 17, 1998) until March of 2000.

The Specs:

- Brand X 486/33MHz
- 8MB RAM
- 1500MB of disk, maybe.
- Adaptec 1520A SCSI card
- NEC single-spin (!) CDROM
- Crappy monochrome monitor and card
- Brand X Ethernet card
- 4Mb/s cable modem connection
- Connectix B&W Quickcam
- Slackware Linux 3.4

Sanford Mark II

Online from March 2000 to sometime in 2003.

The Specs:

- Brand X Pentium I 120MHz
- 40MB RAM
- 6GB of disk
- Dual Adaptec 2940 SCSI adapters
- Double-speed CDROM, whoopee!

Cheap, too.
